Sunday 3rd November: Hampstead ‘A’ 1 TFA Totteridge ‘A’ 2

Hampstead lost their first game of the season after a scrappy performance against league leaders TFA Totteridge on Sunday. In blustery conditions at Chase Lodge, both sides found it hard to settle into any kind of flow and TFA enjoyed some early pressure. The windy conditions didn’t help and there were few shots on target in the first half. Finlay worked hard and Jay made a great tackle. However, Totteridge took the lead just before half time when Hampstead failed to deal with a loose ball in the penalty area and TFA slotted home. Half time: Hampstead 0 – TFA Totteridge 1. The second half started in similar fashion, with Hampstead competing less well physically. Totteridge scored a second 14 minutes into the half and had a shot saved well by Kyle who tipped it onto the crossbar. That seemed enough to wake Hampstead up and they raised their game. Hampstead pulled a goal back when Luc beat the TFA goalie to a through ball and, after two of his shots were blocked, Alfie was on hand to edge the ball over the line. In the dying stages a strong attack from Hampstead gave Sean an opportunity to shoot but his effort went wide. Too little too late in a game where Hampstead never really got going. POTM – No-one really stood out but Eddie decided Eric should get this week’s silver boot for confident defending when the opposition had the ball.
