Sunday 10th November: Hanwell Town ‘A’ 1 Hampstead ‘A’ 2

10.11.2013 The U10A team secured a 2-1 win away at Hanwell Town in a late kick-off this week. Hampstead dominated the chances in the first half with Alfie shooting over the bar and toe-poking wide and Sean meeting a corner well but heading over. Luc had several good chances blocked, including a solo run from deep in our area, and Finlay and Alfie played hard in midfield. However, despite ten efforts (5 on target), the first half ended goalless. Hampstead came out strongly after the break and a great move and cross from Alfie was met with a superb half-volley from Luc that was brilliantly tipped over the bar by the Hanwell goalie. Eleven minutes into the second half Hampstead got the breakthrough when Hanwell conceded a free-kick outside the area and Alfie shot route one through a crowd of players to take the lead. Hampstead lost their focus and three minutes later Hanwell equalised when Hampstead failed to clear the ball inside the box. This led to a period of Hanwell pressure but, with five minutes to go, a through ball found Jonathan Sol. who ran one on one with the goalie and calmly slotted home. Overall a mix of some good football and some half hearted play, many efforts at goal, and several fine saves from the Hanwell goalie. POTM – Luc, for working extremely hard to chase things down and for several great touches.
