U9A WIN PLATE AT ST JOSEPH’S
Sunday, June 16th, 2013Hampstead assembled a squad of regulars and a couple of new faces to enter the St Joseph’s 88 YFC 6-a-side tournament. With no established goalie due to Joe’s broken finger, and coaches Eddie and John missing, it seemed a tough challenge, especially as 25 teams were taking part. In the group stages, Hampstead narrowly lost their first game to eventual cup winners Parkfield (2-1), but beat Headstone Manor Hawks, Veneceremos and Pinner Albion to finish Group A in second with 9 points. This qualified them for the Plate competition, where they beat Ruislip Rangers in the semi-final and St Andrews in the final (in a penalty shoot-out) to take the Plate. Well done to the “Magnificent Seven” (Luc, Joe, Alfie, George, Jake, Camille and Bernard – who was great in goal for many of the games) and Liz and the parents who stood up to the mark to get the team there and guide them to victory!!

BIG WEEKEND FOR U9A TEAM, 8-9 JUNE 2013
Sunday, June 16th, 2013Members of the U9A team enjoyed a full weekend of football with the Hampstead FC Awards and a tough friendly match against Bushey & Oxhey U9. During the awards on Saturday the boys played very well to beat a Hampstead U10 side 6-4 in a six-a-side friendly game at Chase Lodge. This years’ awards went to Finlay (Fair Play), Alfie (Most Improved), Joe (Manager’s Player) and Luc (Player’s Player), but many of the team were in contention. Joe also received the Hampstead FC Boys Goalkeeper of the Year Award! Excellent news. On Sunday a larger squad played a three session training game against Bushey & Oxhey U9. Hampstead played some creative football to get the upper hand against strong opposition (0-0, 3-0, 0-0).
